If you snore, you may have a serious condition known as central sleep apnea. While you sleep if you suffer from a decrease or stoppage in breathing then you may have a problem with the signals which are sent from your brain to your body telling it when to breath.

The most recognizable symptom of central sleep apnea is loud snoring, always sleepy during the day, or you feel like you were restless the whole night. Excessive sleepiness during the daytime will become more noticeable over months and even years in a person. You will find that you are tired while you drive, talk, or working. People who suffer from sleep apnea are prone to get into a car accident due to hypersomnolence or neurocognitive disturbances.

Other symptoms of central sleep apnea include gasping for air in the night, choking, headaches in the morning, fatigue during the day, mood swings, poor concentration, poor judgments, and even weight gain.

The most regular and successful treatment with patients who suffer from central sleep apnea is assisted overnight ventilation. This is where you use other external devices such as a rocking bed or cuirasse. A rocking bed is used to help your diaphragm move up and down with gravity while you sleep. A Cuirasse is a shell the patient wears during night which is connected to a pump which draws your chest out while you sleep.

If you have a snoring problem or want to stop snoring, you should see a physician. You may be suffering from a more serious disease known as sleep apnea.

Chances are that you have looked for ways to make someone, or yourself stop snoring. Snoring actually varies from each person and has many factors such as if they are overweight, if they sleep on their back, or allergies. But most importantly people who are looking to stop snoring usually do not look for what is causing the snoring, rather they are looking for something to stop it. There are countless of anti snoring devices, products, and aids which are made to help people stop snoring.
More easier and natural home remedies for snoring include:

Sleeping on your side rather than your back

Eliminating any allergens in your home

Losing weight

And sometimes if these natural home remedies don’t cure their snoring problem, some usually seek surgical procedures which may not be necessary for their snoring solution. Before looking into any surgical procedure you should always try some anti snoring devices, products, or aids. But make sure that any snoring products, device, or aid you find is something that has been recommended by your doctor or it has been doctor recommended.

This will help you weed out the poor anti snoring devices from the ones that actually work. A really well known device right now is known as the Sleep Genie. This is a product that supports your jaw at night while allowing you to keep your mouth closed at night (you can’t snore with your mouth closed). Sleep Genie is a non surgical, non invasive product and best of all, it is doctor recommended. This can be a cheaper alternative to help cure your loud snoring.

If you’ve tried everything to stop snoring it is time you should see a physician, doctor, or an otolaryngologist. But, if you decide to use a dental appliance to cure your snoring you should seek advice and help from a dentist who specializes in stop snoring appliances. Some of the more common snoring treatments available today include:

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Oral Devices

Surgery

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
This may sound like a long and tedious phrase but it is in fact a fairly simple snoring treatment. It consists of wearing a mask while you sleep which pushes air through your throat. CPAP is used to treat snoring and sleep apnea.

Oral Devices Used to Stop Snoring
There are many devices out there that can help ease your snoring problems. These include:

Dental Appliances

Oral Devices

Lower Jaw Adjusters

Many people benefit from using oral devices which move their lower jaw forward while they sleep. These are devices that simply rest in your mouth. However, you may also see other devices which you wear around your head that adjust the positioning of your jaw.

Surgery for Snoring
There is a very common surgery known as Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP). This is a treatment to treat snoring and other forms of obstructive sleep apnea. There are two types of Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP):

Laser-assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP)

Radiofrequency Ablation (aka somnoplasty)

LAUP is used to vaporize your uvula and a portion of your palate. This is usually done under local anesthesia. LAUP is used to remove any obstruction that is blocking your airway in your throat. Removing these obstructions will get rid of the things causing your snoring or sleep apnea.

There is also another type of treatment known as Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), but LAUP has shown to be more successful in treating patients who snore over the years.

Radiofrequency Ablation (somnoplasty) is used to shrink any extra tissue in your upper airway.

Many professionals and doctors agree that many snoring devices and home remedies can be used to treat mild snoring, but for any person who is a heavy snorer, surgery may be your only option. The surgery will help correct any obstruction in your airway and help you breathe better at night.

Watching a baby sleep is one of the most wonderful things a new parent can watch. When a baby is sleeping parents also feel it is their time to relax and rest as well. But, not always do parents feel relaxed when their baby is sleeping. Sometimes their new born snores so loud at night that they don’t even need a baby monitor to check on their baby. Some parents may question whether this snoring is normal, is their baby breathing all right, or how can they stop the snoring.

A number of factors must be considered. First, if your infant is snoring it may just mean they have a nasal congestion. If you don’t know this already most babies only breathe through their nose and not their mouth. So if your baby has allergies, this may be the cause of the snoring.

Steps to Stop Your Infant from Snoring

Suction Bulb
There are some treatments you can do at home to see if your baby has a serious snoring problem. Most parents don’t utilize a suction bulb. Try using it right before your baby’s bed or nap time; because this can clear the nasal way enough to allow for proper air flow, thus eliminating any snoring.

Humidifier or Saline Spray
Many doctors recommend using a saline spray to clear your nasal cavity. You can get a saline spray at your local drug store. But always check with your doctor before hand, because some sprays contain other medication in them. You can always buy a humidifier as well. This will help keep the nasal cavity mucus more moist so that it can move more easily through your babies nasal way.

Medical Advice
If you can’t treat your babies snoring with simple home remedies, you should seek medical advice from your family doctor. Your baby may already have a more serious condition known as sleep apnea or have an obstruction in their airway limiting the oxygen intake. Your baby may need to wear a mask that helps it to breath at night.

You may also want to consider surgery to remove any obstructions in the airway. This may sound more serious than it is but taking these simple steps can help improve your baby’s life in the future significantly. Ensuring proper oxygen intake can simply improve your child’s capability to grow and learn at its complete potential.

Stop Snoring Aids
Are you sick and tired of being tired all the time or that your partner is keeping you up all night snoring? Are you waking up in the morning only to be confronted by your partner that your snoring kept them up all night long? Do you find yourself twisting and turning at night trying to punch your pillow or stuff your pillow in your partners face? If this sounds like you then you have come to the right place!

Snoring is not intentional and your partner doesn’t want to keep you all night because of it. It doesn’t seem like snoring is curable, however, there are many stop snoring aids out there such as:

Chin Straps

Jaw Supporters

Medical Tapes

Nasal Strips

Snoring Spray

Ear Plugs

Sleep Posture Devices

Pillows

Hypnosis

And Many More

Most of the time snoring originates from your palate about 80% of the time. That is why some stop snoring products may not work and other will. If you have a sinus problem and use a product for your jaw, that isn’t going to help. Only a nasal congestion product will relieve congestion allow for better airflow in your nose.

Another thing couples must take into consideration is that snoring could be a sign of more serious problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and even stroke.

If people try and self medicate themselves, they may have some results. But in reality their only getting a false sense of satisfaction, and in the long run can be more harmful than good. Before you start using any products to help you stop snoring you should always consult in your doctor. Plus, many of the products to help assist in snoring problems aren’t even FDA regulated or approved.

Relationship Problems Because of Snoring
Everyone knows snoring is one of the most annoying things on earth, but it can also hurt a relationship. Snoring isn’t just annoying, it also impedes on your spouses or partners sleep as well. Couples who can’t take their significant others snoring most of the time resort to sleeping in different rooms to get a good night’s sleep. This may be better in the short term, but in the long run it can hurt your communication, intimacy, and relationship significantly.

Snoring and Relationships
Many partners of people who have snoring problems occasionally or habitually wake up multiple times an hour every night. Being tired and deprived of sleep combined with a loud snoring partner can take a toll on you physically and mentally, especially on your relationship.

The couples who settle on sleeping in different rooms miss out on having the night time intimacy most couples have. That is, talking to each other and physically comforting one another. This can have a serious impact on a relationship because one might feel like they are the one to blame. The snorer can also feel isolated and cause frustration and intimacy problems. All because of something one cannot control. This can also lead to hostility which you don’t want.

To have a healthy relationship, both partners will need to confront one another and work things out. There are several steps you and your partner can take. If you are the snorer trying sleeping on your back and if that doesn’t work then try finding a snoring aid or device from the store. If you’re the victim of the snoring then try using earplugs. Earplugs can be hard to get used to at first but once you get used to them then you won’t be able to tell that they are in your ears. You could also try going to bed earlier than your partner, that way you might fall asleep before him or her. If worse comes to worse you can have a separate room when the snoring becomes too unbearable.

There is nothing more annoying than having to listen to someone else snore while you try to fall asleep. Snoring, can be funny or irritating to others, but it can also be a sign of a more serious medical problem which should not be ignored.

Are you Really Sleeping?
Snoring is problem not only for older men but for women and young children as well. Snoring occurs when air cannot pass through his or her mouth while sleeping. Snoring is caused by a combination of your mouth, throat, tongue, palate, uvula, tonsils, and adenoids all shaking beside each other.

Snoring is also a cause of a more serious sleep disorder sleep apnea. This is where the person is asleep but their breathing is stopped for a short period of time. This limits the oxygen to their body, and causes them to wake up with headaches and feel tired the whole day. People who suffer from sleep apnea usually don’t know it.

Solutions to Stop Snoring
There are hundreds of products and devices out there which you can buy that will alert you when you start snoring, or even zap you. Needless to say, these products may work only because they keep you awake more than you are asleep.

An easy snoring cure that anyone can try is to elevate their bed a few inches upward or by using a pillow to elevate your head. You can also try sleeping on your side rather than your back. Also try avoiding big meals or alcohol before you go to bed. These are only a few suggestions for those who only snore occasionally.

You can also try wearing the small white strips that you see football players wearing on their nose. This helps them to breathe easier while running, but they can also help to improve airflow while you sleep. These can be used to help people who are trying to stop snoring.

If you start snoring on a daily basis or your snoring becomes more deeper, you may want to go see your doctor. He will be able to check how well your nasal passage or airway are. Your tonsils or adenoids may be the cause of an obstructed airway which is causing you to snore at night. If your tonsils and adenoids are enlarged they will be able to remove them with a simple surgical procedure.

Other Solutions to Stop Snoring
Other people may have a problem snoring but it may not be due to enlarged tonsils or adenoids. It may be due to the fact that they are overweight. They just need to make a simple lifestyle change in their diet and exercise daily. It is also wise to create a regular sleeping pattern and remove anything which may cause allergies.

If your doctor thinks you may suffer from sleep apnea you’ll be given a test. This is usually done in a clinic over night where you’ll be hooked up to machines which will monitor your heart rate, breathing, movements, and airflow in your body. If you do find out that you have a sleeping disorder, the best thing is that the test doesn’t hurt or harm you in any way. You literally sleep right through it! Once the doctors can diagnose what is wrong with you, you will be able to start treatment. This may be due to simple lifestyle changes, taking some medications, or even surgery if necessary.

Solving your snoring problem will allow everyone to breathe and sleep better.

If you want to stop snoring there are many treatments which are available. If you are an occasional snorer you may want to consider these simple lifestyle changes to help cure your snoring problem.

Healtier eating habits

Daily exercise to lose weight

Avoiding big meals and alcohol right before you go to bed

Set up a normal sleeping pattern

Try sleeping on your side as an alternative to your back

If none of these help with your snoring problems then you should seek medical advice from your doctor. As of now there are over 300 different types of products on the market which are supposed to help put a stop to snoring. However, most of these devices and products do not take into account the primary anatomical problems which contribute to snoring. These consist of things such as nasal obstruction or being overweight. Sometimes surgery may be required to fix the physical problems. Some of the more common surgeries for sleep apnea include:

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)

Laser-assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP)

Somnoplasty

Genioglossus and hyoid advancement

Septoplasty and turbinate surgery

Tonsillectomy

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)
This is where the doctor will surgically tighten the tissue around your throat and palate. UPPP is usually only for people who have a moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.

Laser-Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP)
LAUP is a procedure to stop snoring for patients who suffer from mild obstructed sleep apnea. This is where a laser is used to vaporize your uvula and some parts of your palate in a series of 4-5 procedures. Your palate will be “stiffened up” creating more room in the back of your throat.

Somnoplasty
This snoring procedure is very invasive in that radio frequency energy is used to reduce unnecessary tissue in the palate, uvula, and tongue.

Genioglossus and Hyoid Advancement
This is a procedure where the tongue is pulled forward to create more space in your lower throat area. This will help prevent any collapsing of your tongue.

Septoplasty and Turbinate Surgery
This is a surgical treatment to create more airflow through your nose.

Tonsillectomy
This is a surgical procedure where the doctors will remove your adenoids and tonsils, to stop snoring in children.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
This is another treatment where the patient will wear a mask which pushes air through your upper airway. The air is used to create a constant and continuous airflow to create enough pressure so that your upper airway won’t collapse while you are sleeping. This will help you sleep and breath better while you sleep.
